The great saint and social reformer Brahmashree Narayana Guru who gave an all time relevant universal message – *”One Caste, One Religion and One God; Educate to be Free, Organise to be strong”*. Shree Gokarnanatha Kshethra, Kudroli is thr one and only temple in Karnataka sanctified and consecrated by Brahmashree Narayana Guru in the year 1912, which is now accepted by our community as our *”Aadi”*, which reflects our unity and strength. Under the dynamic leadership of our popular leader Sri B. Janardhana Poojary, Ex- Central Minister, the historical renovation could become reality in 1991. Since then *Navarathri Utsav* is being celebrated with the installation of Shree Sharada Matha along with Shree Mahaganapathi and Navadurgas culminating with the grand and highly attractive *’Shobha Yathra’* which is now popularly known at the international level as *”Mangaluru Dasara”*.
After the renovation daily ‘Annadana’ is being offered in the Kshethra through out the year to the devotees who visit the temple and also to the poor students of neighboring schools and colleges. This was possible due to the continuous support and cooperation of devotees and donors. After the historical renovation, installation of Musical Fountain, Shree Hanuman Gudi, Shree Shirdi Sai Baba Mandir, Auditoriums, Dining Hall, Parking facilities and such other developmental works were undertaken. As per the aspirations of Shree Guru, revolutionary Social and Religious changes have been incorporated in the temple to make it accessible to all the sections of the society. According to Shree Gurus aspiration *’Live and Let Live’*, it is proposed to undertake many socially oriented projects to benefit the poor and needy sections of the community. Establishing *Shree Gokarnanatha Vidhya Nidhi* to help meritorious students who could not continue their education due to their economic inability, Establishment of *Shree Gokarnanatha Kreedaa Nidhi* to support and help outstanding talents in the field of sports and games, Establishing *Shree Gokarnanatha Aarogya Nidhi* ti help those poor people suffering from serious illness and also to organize *Free Mass Marriage* for the benefit of poor sections of the society.
The estimated cost to carry out all these projects through out the year requires around Rupees Five to Six Crore. The expense of Annual Navarathri Utsav- Mangaluru Dasara itself comes to Rs. 2.5 to 3 Crore rupees. This is so far met by the generous donations and contributions from the devotees, philanthropists, general public and religious minded esteemed institutions and organizations. We are proud that for all these years we have not received any financial grants from the Government. Having traversed so far, the people in general are expecting us to conduct the ongoing programmes in still more splendid way in the future also and that with your support and cooperation the same could be continued and celebrated with still more traditional pomp and style. At this juncture, we wish to humbly state that we have a population of about morethan 30 lakh Billava Community spread in different parts of the world including agriculturalists, landlords, Industrialists/Businessmen/Entrepreneurs, self employed persons, employees in Govt. and private sectors. If, at least one earning member from each family belonging to our community could donate a minimum of Rs. 5000/- regularly each year to the Kshethra and if we could identify a minimum of 10000 such people from our community, without any dependency and difficulty the programmes and projects of Shree Kshethra could be implemented.
As a first step towards accomplishing this goal, we earnestly request our community organizations and leader to help us in identifying at least 10000 devotees from among your relatives, friends, contacts and well wishers who will contribute Rs. 5000/- regularly each year to the Kshethra.
